About Aviva

Aviva loves working with children and is passionate about making a difference in both the child’s development, as well as helping the family make changes to support the child at home. For Aviva, “the best part of working with children is making therapeutic activities fun and playful.”

A 2005 graduate of Stern College for Women with a major in psychology, Aviva earned her Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 2007. Aviva has provided occupational therapy to children from toddlers to teens with a wide variety of diagnoses in the clinic and schools. Continuing education is a priority for Aviva and she has advanced training in Interactive Metronome, Therapeutic Listening, Handwriting Without Tears, and DIR/Floortime.

As a regular contributor to the POTS blog, Aviva shares her ideas with parents on how to incorporate sensory integration, fine motor and Floortime techniques into their daily lives in fun, creative ways. Aviva has a keen appreciation of the need to incorporate sensory integration techniques into the classroom to promote student skills and social skills, and has a knack for making significant changes in the classrooms in which she spends time.

Aviva has a special interest in sensory integration, handwriting, and keyboarding. A dynamic lecturer, she frequently conducts workshops for parents and teachers with Dr. Lamm Warburg.

Outside of POTS Aviva enjoys spending time with her family, reading books, cooking and baking. Thankfully she shares her culinary expertise with us at POTS!
